Historic Vehicles Drive Anti-Ethanol Message To Congress

Members of the SEMA Action Network (SAN) joined congressional leaders and industry experts at the June 19, 2013, “Fuel for Thought” Rally on Capitol Hill. The event raised awareness of the corrosive effects of ethanol-blended gasoline on automobile engines and the dangers of consumer misfueling. Hosted by theAmerican Motorcyclist Association (AMA) in partnership with the SAN, the event drew car enthusiasts and motorcycle riders from across the nation.

Eckler Industries Expands Florida Warehouse

Eckler Industries, Inc., the nation’s largest provider of restoration parts and accessories for classic and enthusiast automobiles, has signed an agreement with Grissom Centroplex to begin construction of a new 180,000-square-foot warehouse facility. The enhanced fulfillment facility will later be followed by a new office building which will become the headquarters for the company.

Steck Releases I-Bolt Towing Tool

Steck Manufacturing Company, headquartered in Dayton, Ohio, has released the I-Bolt towing tool. The I-Bolt allows towers, body shop technicians and mechanics to safely load disabled foreign and some domestic vehicles on roll back wreckers and frame racks, without causing damage. Vehicle manufacturers design specific tow eyes for each model car to pull the vehicle down the assembly line; it is included with the vehicle.

Auction To Feature Dealership Collection Of Classic Vehicles

Five hundred classic vehicles from the 1930s - 1970s will be up for auction on September 28 - 29, 2013 near Pierce, Neb. The collection is owned by Ray P. Lambrecht, who owned Lambrecht Chevrolet Company from 1946 - 1996. The collection also includes 30 - 50 Chevrolet vehicles that are essentially new and never sold, most have 10 miles or less and still on the Manufacturers Statement of Origin (MSO).

Marcell Bailey didn’t just restore a classic 1956 Imperial, she saved it. “My husband was going to junk it because he wanted its 354 HEMI motor to build a rat rod,” she explained. “It was a straight, clean car that just needed a lot of love. I said, ‘Why don’t we fix this car for me to drive?’”

Hot Rod TV Showcases CTC Auto Ranch's Classics

When HOT ROD Magazine’s (www.hotrod.com) web show, “Roadkill,” contacted Allen Williamson about filming at his Denton, Texas classic auto salvage facility, he didn’t hesitate. In fact, CTC Auto Ranch, the 35-acre business he co-owns with his father Dale Williamson and brother David Williamson, was the perfect location for the show. Hosts David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan, were looking to buy a car from an auto recycling facility, make it run, do burnouts, add nitrous, drag race and then auction off the vehicle at the end.

Tips For Buying Used Classic Parts

Auto recycling facilities that specialize in classics can really be a treasure trove for restorers. Many of these yards have thousands of classic vehicles onsite and are always out buying up more. One auto recycling facility out of thousands in the United States may have the exact car you’re restoring, guaranteeing a supply of parts. But the key is to find your diamond in the rough, which can be a challenge.
