Stop Scrapping Valuable Wheels

Hollander’s new app, WheelSpotter will have you selling wheels for two to three times their scrap value.

The WheelSpotter app - available for all iOS12 devices - quickly identifies a wheel’s Hollander Interchange number to determine whether that wheel should be sold to a scrapper (e.g., for $8 - $18) or a remanufacturer (e.g., for $30 - $50).

All you have to do, is take a picture of a wheel using an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Wheelspotter applies machine learning and advanced filtering to analyze the photo, sort through over 12,000 OEM wheels, and determine the Hollander Interchange number of your wheel.

The app is especially beneficial for wheels having model year 2000 to 2012 because many self-service and full-service recyclers do not inventory these wheels. Before the WheelSpotter app, it was often not financially justified to identify these wheels because only around 1 in 6 would be able to be set aside for sale to a remanufacturer. However, the WheelSpotter app now makes the effort to identify the Hollander Interchange number so fast you can afford to identify a wheel worth $30- $50 and then set it aside for sale to a remanufacturer.

The WheelSpotter app gives you the following information about your wheel:

  • Hollander Interchange number;
  • Range of vehicle make, model, and year the wheel fits;
  • Material and finish;
  • Style (e.g., count and shape of spokes);
  • Bolt count and bolt pattern diameter;
  • Offset;
  • Placement;
  • Manufacturer style number and option number; and
  • Ident number embossed on the wheel.

Wheelspotter also lets you select a year, make, and model to see the list of Hollander Interchange numbers that fit that vehicle.

Don’t know the YMM? Tap to filter by the emblem on the wheel and its style. You can even search by the Ident number embossed on the wheel. Whatever information you have, Wheelspotter can use it to identify your wheel.

The price a vendor pays you for a wheel is displayed when you use the Wheel Pro edition of the WheelSpotter App.

The WheelSpotter app is $199 a year and has data for both aluminium and steel wheels.  If you want the app to integrate with data from your wheel management system or vendor’s wheel system, the Wheel Pro edition is $299 a month.
