With Washington, D.C. in his backyard, Rick Morrow, vice president of M & M Auto Parts, Inc. in Falmouth, Va., is poised to be the face of the American automotive recycling industry, a role he gladly accepts.
In June 2009, Morrow hosted a delegation from the People's Republic of China that wanted to learn more about U.S. auto recycling. The effort helped Morrow earn the 2009 ARA President's Award.
"Rick Morrow certainly deserves this honor," said Mary Howell, executive director of the Virginia Automotive Recyclers Association (VARA). "He has been active in both his state and national associations for years. He continues to serve on the VARA board, representing the industry at stakeholders meetings during the development of regulatory changes. He is a great resource for VARA staff when we need feedback about how a proposed regulatory change will affect the salvage industry."
Morrow also gave automotive recyclers a voice when it came to the CARS program (aka Cash for Clunkers).
"He is always willing to do television, newspaper and radio interviews. He allowed filming at his facility and was a spokesman for what auto recycling does for the economy and the environment," said ARA Past President Linda Pitman of Dulaney Auto & Truck Parts, Amarillo, Texas. "He continuously shares his knowledge and expertise."
