Practically growing up at her father's business, Alice Corns has a lot of experience in auto recycling. She joined the business, Colorado Auto & Parts, in Englewood, Colo. 30 years ago and officially took over after her father, Norman Sample, died in 2004. She has consistently worked to be an example others can look up to in the industry.

"Absolutely, 100 percent," agreed Joe Carpender, All Recycling, Inc., Englewood, Colo. "She has a very savvy business sense. She doesn't just read the CliffNotes. She reads everything and covers every angle. She doesn't make snap decisions."

In 2009, Corns took the initiative to be the leading facility for CARS program (aka Cash for Clunkers) vehicles in the area. She developed a brochure that outlined the company's achievements, including being the area's only 1877EndOfLifeVehicles affiliate. She distributed the brochures at the Colorado Dealer's Association events. She also became an ARA Regional Director in 2009.
