Auto recycling contains no borders for Derek Covey, owner of Covey's Auto Recyclers Ltd. in Blandford, Nova Scotia (Coveys.com). He is active at every industry level. He is the president of the Automotive Recyclers Association of Atlantic Canada (ARAAC.ca), an Automotive Recyclers of Canada (ARC) board member and ARA member.

"Derek attends and participates in all industry functions," said Steve Fletcher, ARC executive director (AutoRecyclers.ca). "As the main regional representative for Atlantic Canada, he is the central point for auto recyclers to get information on the industry and provide local information."

In 2010 Covey attended the International Roundtable on Auto Recycling (IRT) in Quebec City, Quebec and was chosen as a new ARA regional director. He was also named one of the top Canadian auto recyclers of 2010 by Canadian Auto Recyclers Magazine (CanadianRecycler.ca).

"He's been steeped in the industry over the years, but not quite able to play the piano as well as his dad [thankfully]," joked Ed MacDonald, owner of Maritime Auto Parts in Debert, Nova Scotia (MaritimeAuto.com). "He has been a constant and steady force within the ARAAC and now is stepping into the ARA scene with a lot of comfort."

Lori Handke, Locator sales representative agreed. "He is the type of person that will get the job done right the first time."
