Solera Holdings, Inc. announced its subsidiary, Hollander, LLC, signed a five-year extension of its exclusive business partnership with eBay in North America through 2020. This partnership will bolster the continued growth and expansion of the fastest growing sales channel for recycled auto parts and expand the reach of the recycling industry to consumers worldwide.
"This extension is proof of how much this partnership has benefitted both parties," said Tanvir Arfi, President of Solera's Service, Maintenance, Repair & Parts platform. "Now, we must build on the foundation we've created to catapult into the next level of e-Commerce for recyclers."
By tapping into the world's largest consumer-based online marketplace, Solera will work with eBay to open new markets internationally and connect the vast supply of parts within the Hollander customer network to global purchasers.
eBay is the leading e-commerce platform for recycled auto parts and is consistently ranked a number one automotive site on the web, according to eBay, with three parts or accessories sold every second. Hollander's eLink™ solution is a tailor made listing program specifically for recyclers and integrated with its yard management system Powerlink®. eLink™ customers are granted industry-exclusive support from the eBay Merchant Support Organization and benefit from marketing programs provided by eBay.
Legislation (H.B. 3810) was recently introduced in Massachusetts that would require new-car dealers to provide purchasers a written statement declaring it is illegal for manufacturers or dealers to void a warranty or deny coverage because aftermarket or recycled parts were installed or because someone other than the dealer performed service. The SEMA-supported bill will be considered by the Joint Committee on Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure.
The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act regulates warranties for the protection of consumers and provides that vehicle manufacturers may not deny warranty coverage based on the use of an aftermarket part alone. Consumers are generally unaware of the rights afforded them under the law and many are forced to absorb the costs for repairs that were properly covered under the warranty. This SEMA-supported bill would simply provide that consumers be made aware in 10-point boldface type of these basic rights. Go to www.semasan.com to get updates on current legislative actions.
