Nordstrom’s Completes Part Of $4 Million Renovation
Nordstrom’s Automotive, Inc. recently held a ribbon “smashing” ceremony at its Garretson, S.D. location. The ceremony was held on Oct. 20 to celebrate the opening of the business’ new paved road. The event featured a parade with the company’s founders, employees and local dignitaries.
The newly christened “Nordstrom Drive,” which is just part of a $4 million expansion, was completed with the help of the township. Nordstrom’s has cooperated with Edison Township for years on the challenge of maintaining the gravel township roads around the growing business. The new paved road gives year-round access to the business that extends the entrances of the Ewe Pullet, the self-service operation, and Nordstrom’s Auto Recycling, the full-service operation.
The project will also include a 40,000-square-foot expansion that will centralize operations and modernize the infrastructure. This includes improvements and / or expansions to its dismantling capabilities, loading dock, truck run and distribution area, warehousing, sales and an industry training room. The building will be made as green as possible utilizing waste oil boilers, geo thermal and modernized lighting.
