Volkswagen Addresses U.S. Emissions Standards Violations

Volkswagen is responding to allegations that it skirted EPA emissions standards in its diesel four-cylinder models. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) claims the company used software algorithms to cheat the emissions tests through “defeat devices.”

Chrysler Recalls Vehicles Over Hacker Scare

Fiat Chrysler America (FCA) is conducting a voluntary safety recall to update software in approximately 7,810 U.S.-market SUVs equipped with certain radios. More than half remain in dealer hands and will be serviced before they are sold.

Hearing Planned On Recall Data Access

The U.S. House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing and Trade scheduled a hearing for Friday, September 25, 2015 to review a discussion draft bill entitled the “Improving Recall Tracking Act.”

Scrap Outlook

The scrap industry is nowhere near where it once was. Prices of shredded scrap steel are down 18 percent this year and down 41 percent since 2012. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like an industry resurrection will happen be any time soon.
