Barry Rubin is always looking for ways to improve his business. Now with a
new facility, the third-generation recycler has already taken American Auto
Salvage of Fort Worth, Texas to the next level.
“He’s taken the present day mindset and lifted the bar higher,” said
employee Mike Kunkel, general manager, who has known Rubin for 13 years. “We’re
becoming a lot more quality driven than a lot of salvage facilities. We have
laid out the new facility so that we can deliver parts significantly faster.
We have a system for cleaning the parts, staging the deliveries, and so on.”
It is a strong position for someone who could have easily been run out of
business.
“The city wanted his property so they could move a river that was next
to him,” remembered
John Catalano of Bionic Auto Parts & Sales in Chicago. “He only
had so much time to find a new location. He found an empty lot and converted
it into this great place. He was not only able to move his late model business
but also open a u-pull-it place next door.”
