Iowa Automotive Recyclers

Okoboji, Iowa, October 3 - 4, 2008
The Locator donated a Tow Truck Pedal Car to the IAR auction. Eric and Melia Piper, Spilman Auto Parts, Inc., Bloomfield, Iowa, purchased this fun blast-from-the past. Retired Owner John C. Vander Haag, Vander Haag’s, Inc., Spencer, Iowa, called the first Iowa association meeting in 1957. Vander Haag’s Yesterday’s Memories Museum, Sanborn, Iowa was the second stop on the yard tour, where everyone gathered for lunch.
Hurst Salvage, Spencer, Iowa was the first stop on the bus-sponsored yard tour. Tracy Hurst is currently an IAR board member. Hurst Salvage, a family-owned company headed by Steve Hurst, hosted breakfast for the attendees. Grab & Go Auto Salvage, LLC, Spencer, Iowa opened in the summer of 2007 and is owned by Shine Bros. Corp., also of Spencer.
The yard tours ended at Grab & Go Auto Salvage, where attendees gathered around the dismantling bay.
